Hailing from Greyslake, IL and playing together since 1995, CHEVELLE has released a new album, THE NORTH CORRIDOR. This trio still has that edge that they always have, heavy, rhythmic and just intense. They open the album with DOOR TO DOOR CANNIBALS it features powerful drums, electrifying guitars and fervent vocals. They ramp of the intensity in ENEMIES, it is dark but still a good acoustic sound. PETE LOEFFLER’S vocals in JOYRIDE (OMEN) are thoughtful and a good choice for their first single from this album. The guitars have a unique electric sound accompanied by hard-hitting drums. RIVERS slows the tempo down a bit, but still has that heavy rhythm that fans love, vocals are intense that sync up to the acoustics. One of the heavy songs YOUNG WICKED brings in a new element, young kids screaming during the chorus, it is a unique perspective that makes the song even better, towards the end there is a great guitar rhythm that is accompanied by great drumming. WARHOL’S SHOWBIZ reminds me of older CHEVELLE, intense, head-banging material, strong vocals are intensified by the bass, guitar and heavy drums. PUNCHLINE is a new take for this album, slower, more melodic talking about not being the punch-line for someone else. CHEVELLE ends the album with SHOT FROM A CANNON, another hard-hitting song that brings in riffs and vocals not really played throughout the album, this is a great way to end the album.
